Palestinian President Abbas Meets Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City

 

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City to discuss urgent humanitarian aid for Gaza and efforts toward a two-state solution. The meeting, marking the 10th anniversary of the Vatican’s recognition of Palestine, was described as cordial in an official statement.

Abbas also visited the tomb of the late Pope Francis in Rome, laying flowers and praising his historic recognition of the State of Palestine. Abbas is scheduled to meet Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni tomorrow.
