Approximately 90,000 people in Jerusalem performed the first Friday prayer of Ramadan at the Al-Aqsa Mosque under Israeli restrictions, according to the Jerusalem Islamic Endowments Authority.

Israeli forces allowed only men over the age of 55, women over the age of 50 and children under the age of 12 to enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque, while other Palestinians performed Friday prayers in the vicinity.

Three thousand armed security personnel were assigned to the Israeli checkpoints on the route to the historic mosque.
