Palestinians returning to the Gaza Strip after the January 19 ceasefire have found their homes reduced to rubble. Many families have set up tents beside the ruins, struggling to rebuild their lives.
Alam Al-Sarsawi, a resident of al-Zahraa, described his shock at the destruction. “I returned to my city, the most beautiful place in the world, only to find it in ruins. All I have left is an olive tree,” he said. Abdullah Abu Rabie, another resident, vowed to stay despite the devastation. “We have lost everything, but I will not leave my country or emigrate,” he stated.
