The propaganda process has begun for the parliamentary elections planned to be held on October 20 in the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government, where 2.8 million people are eligible to vote. Various posters of parliamentary candidates asking for votes were hung on the streets and avenues of Erbil.
A total of 1,191 candidates from 136 political formations are expected to compete for the 100 seats in the KRG parliament.
Parliamentary elections were first held in northern Iraq in 1992 following the uprising against the former regime Saddam Hussein.
