A passenger train containing about 50 people derailed in the town of Voorschoten, near the city of The Hague in the south of the Netherlands, at around 03:25 local time. One person died and 30 people were injured in the accident, said authorities. Dutch Railways NS spokesman Erik Kroeze said that a freight train was also involved in the accident, but did not give further information.
It is assumed that the accident occurred because of construction materials left on the tracks.
