A passenger van carrying construction workers crashed into a creek in Belgaum, in the Indian state of Karnataka. After the police and first aid teams arrived at the scene, rescue efforts were initiated in the region. Police stated that the driver lost control of the steering wheel and fell into the creek, and reported that 9 workers died at the scene and 14 others were injured.
While those injured in the accident were being treated at the hospital, Karnataka State President Basavaraj Bommai expressed his condolences to victims and said that the government would cover the costs of the treatment of the injured.
