The Ukrainian city of Hostomel that being one of the cities that most heavily bears the scars of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has turned into ruins. After the withdrawal of Russian soldiers from the city, people have returned back to Hostomel. After the return, city residents are trying to save their belongings that have remained intact in the destroyed houses and workplaces in the city. Also the burial of civilians who lost their lives during the conflicts in Ukraine continues. The bodies that found by search and rescue teams and delivered to their families after identification, are buried after the ceremony held in the cemeteries.
A city resident named Katarina said that she owned a beauty center in Hostomel before the war. “Our workplace and home were destroyed after the clashes. We have been working here as a family for many years. This was Hostomel’s first beauty salon. We can bring back the things that were destroyed, but the dead will not come back,” Katarina said.
