Philippine boy survives landslides hiding in refrigerator

Tropical storm Megi, which was effective in the Philippines, caused heavy rain and landslides, and more than 170 people died in the country. 11-year-old CJ Jasme, whose homes were affected by the landslide in Baybay, a city in Leyte province of the Philippines, escaped the disaster by hiding in a refrigerator. It was determined that the little boy, whom search and rescue teams reached in a refrigerator by the river during their operations in the city on April 15, was in the refrigerator for about 20 hours.

Police officer Jonas Etis said in a statement that the first thing the boy said to the search and rescue team was “I’m hungry”. In the statement made by the police, it was stated that the child’s health condition is stable, his mother and younger brother are still missing, and his father died in the landslide. Police said they believe the boy’s 13-year-old brother is still alive.
