Philippines Quake Death Toll Rises To 72

The death toll from Tuesday’s 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Cebu province has climbed to 72, with 294 injured and more than 20,000 displaced. Authorities said 170,000 people were affected before search and rescue operations concluded.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited the hardest-hit city of Bogo, noting damaged infrastructure complicates relief. He announced plans for a “tent city” to shelter families unwilling to return home amid ongoing aftershocks.
