Plane crashes into birds in Cuba

A Boeing 737 type passenger plane belonging to the US-based Southwest Airlines, which took off from Cuba, crashed into birds shortly after taking off. Due to a failure in the aircraft’s engine, the cabin was covered in smoke. The incident caused great panic amongst the 147 passengers and 6 crew and the plane bound for Florida returned to Havana to make an emergency landing. The passengers were evacuated by a slide and taken to another plane. An investigation into the incident was initiated by the Cuban civil aviation authority.
