Poland Confirms Explosion Caused by Russian UAV

Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said the foreign object that exploded in a cornfield in Osiny, near the Ukrainian border, was a Russian-made drone based on Iran’s Shahed model. He called it a “provocation from Russia” amid ongoing peace talks.

Deputy Commander Dariusz Malinowski said the UAV was likely a decoy drone with a self-destruct charge, flying low to evade radar. The blast shattered nearby windows but caused no injuries.

In 2022, a stray Ukrainian S-300 missile struck Poland’s Przewodow village, killing two people.
