The Polish government has stepped up security on its eastern border after a mass of immigrants tried to enter the country from Belarus. Stanislaw Zaryn, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Special Units of Poland, stated that there has been a great increase in the number of immigrants waiting at the country’s border with Belarus in recent days, and claimed that Belarus has deliberately escalated the tension on the border. Polish Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak said that they increased the number of soldiers serving on the Belarusian border to 12,000.
Poland declared a state of emergency for 30 days in 183 settlements in the east of the country on September 3, after the increase in the influx of illegal immigrants on the Belarusian border since last summer.
