Poland’s Ruling Party Loses Majority, New Coalition Imminent

In recent Polish general elections, the ruling Law and Justice Party (PiS) received 36.8% of the votes but couldn’t secure a majority in the parliament to form a government. No parties willing to form a coalition with PiS are expected, making it likely that a new coalition government led by Donald Tusk will be formed. The elections saw a high turnout of 73%, with PiS as the winner, the Citizens’ Coalition in second place, and other parties also securing seats in the parliament. PiS obtained the most votes but not enough seats for a majority, leading to the possibility of a new government.
