Turkish Police Deport 250 Illegal ımmigrants, Arrest 17 Smugglers

In the past two months, Türkiye’s Şanlıurfa Provincial Police Department conducted 12 targeted operations, resulting in the apprehension and deportation of 250 irregular immigrants. Additionally, 24 individuals suspected of organizing illegal border crossings and subsequent transportation were detained. Among them, 17 organizers were arrested and remanded to prison following their court proceedings.

The police crackdown, conducted throughout November and December, dealt a significant blow to immigrant smuggling networks operating in the region. Those detained were found to be involved in facilitating the illegal entry of individuals across borders and attempting to transport them to various regions.

Moreover, authorities seized a total of 22 vehicles linked to these operations, intensifying efforts to curtail illegal immigration activities.
