Pope Meets U.S. VP Vance for Easter

Pope Francis met briefly with U.S. Vice President James David Vance at the Vatican during Easter. The visit was part of Vance’s official trip to Italy.

Following the meeting, Pope Francis used his Easter address to urge a ceasefire in Gaza, calling for the release of prisoners and aid for civilians. “My call to the conflicting parties is this: Declare a ceasefire,” he said.

Vance, a Catholic, has previously clashed with the Pope over U.S. immigration policies during the Trump administration.
