Poplar Trees Felled Along Highway in Central Türkiye

The rows of poplar trees that once lined the Tokat-Turhal highway in central Türkiye have been cut down, dramatically changing the landscape along the route. For years, the trees attracted locals and photography enthusiasts, particularly in autumn when their leaves turned shades of yellow and green. Their branches formed a natural canopy over the road, creating a distinctive tree tunnel that had become a familiar sight for motorists. Aerial images taken before and after the felling show the transformation, with open spaces and agricultural land now replacing the rows of trees. The trees were cut down in 2025, bringing an end to a landscape that had accompanied travelers for decades.
