Heavy rainfall caused flooding in some parts of Portugal, particularly in Lisbon, the country’s capital. Vehicles were dragged and submerged in Lisbon while streets were flooded, including train stations, a theater, a hospital, and an airport. A woman in her 50s was killed in the floods, while her husband was saved, local authorities said.
The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued a “red” alert for Lisbon, as well as the neighboring Santarem and Algarve regions, due to heavy rain and strong winds that are expected to last until Friday.
