A pro-monarchy protest was staged in Kathmandu, Nepal against Nepal’s Federal Democratic Republic system. The demonstrations, organized by Nepalese businessman Durga Prasai, led to a clash between pro-monarchy supporters and Nepalese police.
With the declaration of a Federal Democratic Republic in May 2008, the 240-year-old monarchy in Nepal was ended by the current Constitution Assembly.
