Pro-Palestinian Activists Block Hamburg Port Over German Arms Exports to Israel

Pro-Palestinian activists from the group Ende Gelände blocked Germany’s Port of Hamburg to protest Berlin’s arms exports to Israel and its support for the Gaza war. The group disrupted railway access to the port, with some protesters chaining themselves to the tracks. Activists accused Germany of “complicity in war crimes” and demanded an immediate end to arms shipments.

Germany is Israel’s second-largest arms supplier after the US, having exported nearly €500 million in weapons between 2023 and 2025 despite pledges to curb sales. Protesters said they aimed to halt shipments by companies like Maersk and Israel’s ZIM Line, which use Hamburg for transport.
