Ibrahim Y., a former worker of the Procter & Gamble (P&G) factory in the Gebze Organized Industrial Zone in Türkiye’s Kocaeli province, held 7 other workers hostage with a gun during a birthday celebration at around 14.40 yesterday. The assailant, who wrote the words “The doors will be opened” and “For Gaza” on the wall of the factory and posed in front of it, said that he wanted to draw attention to Israel’s attacks on Gaza and requested a vehicle so he could leave the scene. Hours later, the police carried out an operation inside and rescued the hostages while he went to the toilet.
