Pro-Palestinian Protests Continue Across US Universities

Protests against Israel’s actions in Gaza have intensified at various US universities, with significant police interventions reported. At Yale University in Connecticut, police detained 50 students following clashes during a pro-Palestinian demonstration. Similar events unfolded in New Orleans, where 10 supporters were detained during protests at a popular tourist spot.

The demonstrations, which began on April 18 at Columbia University and have since spread nationwide, have seen nearly 900 Palestinian supporters detained. Despite assertions of freedom of thought by US officials, police actions during these protests have been stringent, leading to confrontations with demonstrators.

Students have camped on campuses, demanding an end to Israeli attacks and urging universities to sever ties with weapon-selling companies to Israel. Faculty members at various institutions have also voiced support for these demands.

Even amid police interventions, protests persist, notably at Columbia University, where Orthodox Jewish community members joined in, advocating for Palestine’s freedom.
