Protesters Set Municipality Building on Fire in Tirana

Hundreds of people, most of whom were members of non-governmental organizations, took to the streets once again in Tirana, the capital of Albania, on the grounds that Mayor Erjon Veliaj and his team were corrupt. Demanding the resignation of the officials, the crowd tried to enter the municipality building despite the security measures and then threw molotov cocktails and flares. The police intervened and tried to control the fire.

Five managers in Tirana Municipality were arrested and the trial of 3 other managers continues.
