Several unions representing public sector employees in France have called for a nationwide strike in protest of government talks on pension reform and in support of higher wages. While many official institutions, such as the municipality, post office, and tax offices, supported the strike, health workers, who had long complained about working conditions and low wages, were also among the protesters.
