protests break out as Thai PM Chan-o-cha remains in office

Protests broke out in Thailand after Chan-o-cha, who took over the prime minister ship after the military coup in Thailand in 2014, did not leave the prime ministry despite the expiration of his term. Protesters called on Chan-o-cha to step down from the office during the protests that started in various parts of the capital city of Bangkok. Prime Minister Chan-o-cha, on the other hand, made no statement on the subject, instead telling reporters waiting for him after the cabinet meeting that his throat hurts.

Deputy PM Wissane Krea-ngam stated in a press statement that the opposition parties’ requests for Prime Minister Chan-o-cha’s resignation are still under consideration by the Constitutional Court and the decision will be clarified in the coming days.
