protests erupt in el salvador after bitcoin becomes legal tender

Protests erupted in El Salvador after the cryptocurrency Bitcoin started to be used as legal tender as of yesterday. The demonstrations began after the value of bitcoin dropped from $52,000 to $43,000. Shouting anti-government slogans, the protesters blocked the streets and set the tires on fire. El Salvador’s President Nayip Bukele, who did not step back despite the protests and the pressure of the opposition, said that the paradigms of the past must be broken and that El Salvador has the right to move towards the first world.
