Protests Erupt in Poland Following Arrest of Former Minister and Deputy

Supporters of Poland’s Law and Justice Party (PiS), now the main opposition, organized a “Protest of Free Poles” in Warsaw. Responding to PiS Chairman Jaroslaw Kaczynski’s call to “defend democracy, media, and freedom of expression,” supporters from across the country convened in the capital.

The demonstration, held in front of the Parliament building, aimed to protest changes in public broadcasting by the new coalition government led by Donald Tusk and the arrest of former Minister of Internal Affairs Mariusz Kaminski and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Maciej Wasik.
