Supporters of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Party gathered in Lahore, Pakistan, to protest against the arrest of the TLP leader Saad Hussain Rizvi, and for the expulsion of the French ambassador from the country. The TLP demanded that the government expel the French ambassador and approve a boycott of French products, and the release of 26-year-old party leader Saad Rizvi.
The police raided the area on Wahdat Road in Lahore, where Rizvi was going to attend a funeral. Protests broke out in many cities of the country after TLP Chairman Rizvi was detained. Later, the Government banned the TLP protests after violent protests and sit-ins across the country.
The TLP party had called for a boycott of French products after the cartoons targeting the Prophet Muhammad in April, and demanded the deportation of the French ambassador.
