Public Transport in Serbia’s Capital Belgrade Becomes Free

Public transport services have become free in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, as of January 1st.

The decision, which was adopted by Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Sapic on December 30, 2024, was made to reduce traffic congestion.

Belgrade, which has a population of approximately 1.7 million, has become the only European city with a population of over 500,000 that made public transport free.
