Putin declares martial law in regions annexed from Ukraine

At the video conference meeting with the Security Council members, Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded martial law to be declared in the the annexed regions against the risks posed by Ukrainian army attacks.

“With the referendums held, residents of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions clearly expressed their desire to be with Russia. Constitutional laws on the admission of four new regions into the Russian Federation have come into force. The Kyiv regime, as you know, refused to recognize the will and choice of people, rejects any proposals for negotiations. On the contrary, shelling continues. Civilians are dying,” said Vladimir Putin in the meeting.

Reminding that Russia have prevented terrorist attacks against transport facilities, nuclear power plants and energy facilities, including settlements in the other parts of the country, Putin said that martial law was already in force in the four regions before joining into Russia.

“This decision will be immediately submitted to the Federation Council for approval, and the Duma will be briefed.” added Putin.

Putin has also instructed to take moderate security measures in the Ukraine border and in the regions close to the border.
