Putin Warns of Potential Nuclear Response to Air and Space Attacks

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the Russian Security Council, warned Western countries of the possibility of using nuclear weapons in response to air or space attacks. The meeting discussed updates to Russia’s nuclear deterrence strategy. Putin emphasized that any attack on Russia by a non-nuclear state, supported by a nuclear power, would be considered a joint assault, potentially justifying a nuclear response. He also warned that Russia may resort to nuclear weapons if reliable intelligence confirms a large-scale air or space attack. Additionally, Putin noted that Russia could use nuclear weapons to defend Belarus under their Union State agreement.
