Rafah Crossing Reopens After Ceasefire

The Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt has reopened in both directions for the first time since its closure by Israel in 2024, marking a key step under the second phase of the Israel–Hamas ceasefire. An Israeli security official told Reuters that European monitoring teams had arrived and that the crossing was now open for Palestinian entry and exit.

Egyptian and Israeli officials said traffic would initially be limited, with 50 Palestinians allowed to cross in each direction on the first day. Egyptian media reported that preparations were underway for Palestinian patients in Khan Yunis to travel for medical treatment.
