Rare Inverted Tulips Bloom in Eastern Türkiye

The arrival of spring in eastern Türkiye has brought the rare and stunning “inverted tulips” into full bloom, transforming the highlands of the Bitlis province into a vivid floral display. Known locally as the “weeping bride,” these unique downward-facing flowers grow naturally around the village of Yumrumeşe, drawing crowds of nature lovers and photographers from across the country. The mountainous region has effectively become a vibrant open-air studio, offering a spectacular visual feast and pristine routes for hikers. Visitors like Istanbul-based photographer Ümit Pektaş, who traveled 1,700 kilometers just to capture the scenery, emphasize that the breathtaking natural beauty and warm local hospitality make the long journey absolutely worth it.
