Rare Red Viper Spotted on Mount Erek in Türkiye

A red viper, one of Türkiye’s most poisonous snakes, was recently spotted on Mount Erek, Van’s second-highest peak. Nature photographer Ferzende Coşar captured the snake while hiking in Ipekyolu district. Coşar noted that this rare viper, previously seen in Hakkari and Ağrı, had never been recorded in Van before. He warned fellow photographers to exercise caution when exploring the area.
