rare turkish cave awaits explorers’ visit

Ballıca Cave, listed as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage site, attracts many tourists to the village of Ballıca in Türkiye’s Tokat province. The cave features rare and distinctive onion stalactites formed under high water pressure. Visitors are captivated by the vibrant colors reflected on the stalactites. The cave’s air is believed to have therapeutic effects for asthma and COPD.

“It is a very interesting cave with unique karstic features. Onion stalactites are rarely found in such structures. The cave consists of eight discovered halls. Ballıca cave, partially unexplored, still retains its mystery,” explained Mehmet Ülkü, the guide.
