Rare Wildcat Spotted in Northwestern Türkiye

A rare wildcat was captured on camera traps in the Ganos Mountains, located in Tekirdağ province in northwestern Türkiye. Footage recorded by nature observers shows the animal cautiously moving through the forest before disappearing into dense woodland.

Experts said the sighting highlights the region’s rich biodiversity and the importance of conservation efforts. Wildcats, which inhabit forested and mountainous areas of Türkiye, are nocturnal and solitary animals, rarely seen due to their preference for quiet habitats far from human activity.
