receding waters reveal historical cemetery on lake van shore

With the receding waters on the Tatvan shores of Lake Van, the Venuma Mountaineering and Underwater Sports Society has identified a historical mass grave site that is predicted to be hundreds of years old. It was observed that most of the tombstones had motifs similar to those found on tombstones in a Seljuk cemetery in the Ahlat district. While some stones have Islamic figures on them, others have cross marks.

A study was initiated by the members of the Venuma Community in order to obtain precise information on which period they belong to.
