Hungarian police have seized over half a ton of South American cocaine hidden inside a shipment of bananas, marking the largest drug bust in the country’s history. Valued at nearly 48 million euros, the illicit cargo was intercepted during a massive international operation sparked by a tip from French customs. Smugglers had routed the drugs from Ecuador through a German port, attempting to blend them into the massive volume of daily European shipping traffic. An international investigation is currently underway to dismantle the South American criminal syndicates behind the complex operation.
