Rescue drill turned into a real operation in US

In the US state of Missouri, 2 teenagers fell into the Creve Coeur Lake when the ice cracked while running on the frozen lake. Right those moments, a fire brigade team which was carrying out a rescue drill in the region came to the rescue of the teenagers who were in danger of freezing by falling into the lake. The fire brigade launched a rescue operation in the lake after noticing the teenagers fell into the water 300 meters ahead from them. Upon arriving the area with their equipments, fire brigade was able to rescue the teenagers successfully within minutes. Meanwhile, the rescue operation was recorded from air second-by-second.

“So it was, you know, go from training mode to rescue mode in a nanosecond,” the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Steve Rinehart said. “We don’t have a lot of time. By the time we got out there, they were already losing their dexterity. They weren’t able to grab onto anything,” Firefighter and Paramedic David Herman said.
