Restrictions Imposed at Iran-Türkiye Border Gate

Amid escalating tensions involving the US, Israel and Iran, crossings at the Esendere Border Gate in Yüksekova, Hakkari, eastern Türkiye, have been restricted. Following a closure decision on the Iranian side at the Urmia-Sero crossing, daily civilian passages were halted, while commercial traffic continues under tight security.

Authorities are allowing controlled returns, with Turkish citizens in Iran permitted to re-enter Türkiye and Iranian citizens in Türkiye allowed to return home. A large black flag raised on the Iranian side, marking a 40-day mourning period, drew attention at the border.
