Romania’s New Government Wins Confidence Vote

Romania’s new coalition government, led by Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader Marcel Ciolacu, has secured a parliamentary vote of confidence following the December 1 elections.

The pro-European government received 240 votes in favor, surpassing the 233 needed for a majority in the 466-member parliament. Addressing lawmakers, Prime Minister Ciolacu emphasized the need for reforms and investments, acknowledging the country’s ongoing economic challenges and political instability.
