roof collapses at recycling facility construction amid snowstorm in southeast Turkey

The roof of a recycling facility construction area in Kahramanmaras, Turkey, collapsed after being unable to withstand the weight of falling snow. The severe storm ripped the roof off in addition to the snow. Several fire departments and police units were dispatched to the scene. The press machines inside the facility were damaged, resulting in a loss of about 3 million Turkish lira (roughly $220,000).

“We invested here with my friend Mehmet Yurdakal and we were going to do our work on behalf of the recycling industry,” said Duran Genç, one of the business partners. “The roof of our factory, however, completely collapsed due to the falling snow and today’s storm. We are relieved that no lives were lost.” he added.
