The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary force that has been in conflict with the Sudanese army for a year, launched an attack on the village of Wad el-Noura in Gezira state on Wednesday. According to the ministry, 180 villagers, including children, were killed in the attack.
The tension between the army and the RSF stems from the reform that includes fully integrating the RSF into the army in the “framework agreement” signed on December 5, 2022, to pave the way for the transition to civilian government and democratic elections.
