Russia: “1,026 Ukrainian soldiers surrendered in Mariupol”

Spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Defense Igor Konashenkov shared the latest situation regarding the war in Ukraine. Spokesperson Konashenkov said that 2 large missile and artillery depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Sadovoe and Chudnov settlements and 2 Mi-24 and 2 Mi-8 military helicopters were destroyed with high-precision missiles from sea and air during the night. Noting that the Russian Air Force had hit 46 military elements of Ukraine, Konashenkov said that these included 2 command posts, 1 radar station, 2 multiple rocket launchers and other military equipment near Borovoe. Konashenkov also stated that the Russian air defense system neutralized 2 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over Afanasevka.

Konashenkov also claimed that some Ukrainian soldiers surrendered and said, “In the city of Mariupol, 1,026 Ukrainian soldiers from the 36th Marine Brigade voluntarily laid down their arms and surrendered as a result of the successful actions of the Russian Armed Forces and the Donetsk People’s Republic militia. Among them, 162 officers, as well as 47 female soldiers were also included,” he said.
