Russian President Valdimir Putin announced yesterday that Russia conducted a nuclear drill.
“Given the increasing geopolitical tensions, new external threats and risks, it is important to have modern and constantly ready strategic forces. I emphasize that we will not enter a new arms race, but we will keep our nuclear forces at the necessary level of competence,” Putin said.
Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov stated that the aim of the drill was to launch “a massive nuclear strike in response to an enemy nuclear attack.”
