Russia Rebukes Pashinyan’s ‘KGB Mentality’ Remark

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova dismissed Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s claim that Armenians’ attitudes toward Turks and Azerbaijanis were shaped by “KGB agents,” noting that “the KGB was established in 1954, while the so called-Armenian genocide took place in 1915—about 40 years earlier.”

Zakharova’s statement came in response to Pashinyan’s parliamentary remarks calling for Armenians to abandon “the way of thinking created by KGB agents” amid Armenia’s ongoing peace talks with Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
