Russia removes checkpoints on Lachin corridor at Armenia-Azerbaijan border

Russia began destruction of checkpoints and the buildings where Russian soldiers live near the entrance of Lachin corridor that links Armenia and the enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan. Russian peacekeepers preparing to evacuate the area will temporarily move to the new corridor.

The Azerbaijani side has completed the 32-kilometer new road which passes outside the city of Lachin and connects Karabakh with Armenia. The villages of Zabuh and Sus within the province of Lachin will come under control of Azerbaijan following the opening of the road.
