Russia sends paratroops to kazakhstan amid mass protests

The Collective Security Treaty Organization’s (CSTO) collective peacekeeping forces have been dispatched to Kazakhstan at the request of Kazakh President Tokayev, amid a wave of unrest in the country, The Russian Ministry of Defense announced. The Russian contingent’s advanced units have already begun to carry out their missions. The peacekeeping forces included divisions of the Armed Forces of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, according to the organization.
