Russia to expel Japanese Consul on Spying

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) caught Japan’s Consul General in Vladivostok, Motoki Tatsunori, red-handed while collecting, in exchange for money, important and limited information on the effects of western sanctions on the Primorskiy Krai region. After the incident, Russia gave a note to Japan and expelled Consul General Tatsunori.

In a written statement made by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “The Undersecretary of the Embassy of Japan in Moscow was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and it was informed that the Consul General of Japan in Vladivostok was declared persona non grata because of his activities against the Russian Federation.”
