Russian Chemical Plant Fire Kills Seven

The death toll from a fire at an under-construction gas-chemical complex in Russia’s Amur region has risen to seven, leaving 152 people injured and nine still missing. Authorities confirmed that six of the deceased are Chinese citizens, prompting the dispatch of a rescue plane to transport the wounded to hospitals across the country. The Russian Investigative Committee is currently investigating the incident for possible violations of industrial safety regulations to determine the exact cause of the blaze. Prior to the fire, the joint venture between Russia’s Sibur and China’s Sinopec was slated to become one of the world’s largest plastics production facilities.
