Russian mayor detained while on call

Ivan Klyin, the Mayor of Tomsk, Russia, was handcuffed and detained by Russian Federal Intelligence Service (FSB) officers while working in his office. The mayor, after reviewing the custody documents presented to him, surrendered to the authorities without difficulty. FSB agents, on the other hand, handcuffed the mayor and led him out of the building to the detention center.

The mayor, who was interrogated, was charged with “abuse of office” under Article 286 of the Russian Federation’s Constitution. The mayor allegedly took valuable lands from the municipal cadaster and used his own construction company to construct buildings on them. In addition to the mayor’s arrest, it was announced that some important people suspected of being involved in the incident had been detained, and that everyone in custody is still being interrogated.
